Gauge sizes, syringe volumes, what’s actually necessary versus what’s optional, and where to buy it all in Canada without overpaying or overthinking it. This is the practical shopping list we wish existed before our first order.

Gauge refers to needle thickness, and counterintuitively, a higher gauge number means a thinner needle — this trips up a lot of first-time buyers.
For nearly everything in this catalog, 31 gauge is the better default — thin enough to be comfortable for the relatively small-volume subcutaneous injections peptides require, while still perfectly capable of drawing solution and injecting reliably.

Most insulin syringes come with a fixed needle, typically 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, or 8mm long. For subcutaneous injection — the standard route for nearly everything in this catalog — shorter needles in the 4–6mm range are generally appropriate and more comfortable, since they’re designed specifically to reach the subcutaneous fat layer without going deeper into muscle.
If you’re working with a leaner injection site or have less subcutaneous fat at your chosen location, a shorter needle (4–5mm) combined with the pinch technique covered in our sterile injection guide is usually the more comfortable choice.
Individually wrapped 70% isopropyl alcohol swabs, used to clean both your injection site and the top of each vial before puncturing. Buy these in bulk — you’ll use two per injection (one for the vial, one for your skin) plus extras for reconstitution, so they go quickly. They’re inexpensive regardless of where you source them, and there’s no meaningful quality difference between brands worth worrying about.

Acetic acid is only needed for a small number of specific compounds, most notably IGF-1 LR3, which is genuinely more stable in mildly acidic conditions and can degrade if reconstituted in BAC water alone. If your protocol includes a compound with this specific requirement, check its individual guide directly rather than assuming — and if it does apply to you, it’s worth keeping a small amount of dilute acetic acid on hand rather than discovering mid-reconstitution that you don’t have it.
